Materials scientists from Nanyang Technological University Singapore have discovered a means to prevent inner short-circuits, the principle reason behind fires in Li-ion batteries.
Billions of Li-ion batteries are produced yearly to be used in cellphones, laptops, private cell gadgets, and the large battery packs of electrical automobiles and plane.
This international battery demand is about to develop, with electrical automobiles alone requiring up to 2,700 GWh value of Li-ion batteries a yr by 2030, equal to some 225 billion cell phone batteries.
